New Website has gone online

It was time for a redesign of the website. I hope the website is now more responsive. Besides, the CapiWiki has gone offline. It was simply too slow on sf.net.

0.8.2.1 Windows installer bug fix

The installer did create a faulty escape sequence in the shortcut. The jar path has to be escaped if the target directory contains white spaces like "Program files".

Good things take time. The Java 5 question.

First thing. Capivara is still active and I am currently implementing several new features and fixing bugs. Second. New features always require a lot of TIME and a lot of new CODE. I wondered recently whether anyone minds if I completely switch the Java 5.
If you have serious issues you'd better tell me quick. Otherwise, the next version (0.8.1) is going to require the Java5 platform.

Website update - clarification

If you wondered why I haven't changed the website after releasing the latest versions of Capivara. Short answer: I couldn't because the sourceforge shell login server was down for some time.

Capivara 0.8.1(.1) is out

This release is basically a bug fix release. The biggest difference is the support for all locally available encodings for plug-in connections. That means, you may select the encoding of the underlying file system if you know the correct file encoding in use. It requires JRE 1.5.0 or higher.

Good things come to those who wait.

Fortunately you don't have to wait any longer. The new version of Capivara (0.8.0) is out. What took me so long to release this version? Well, most of the time I did beta testing. Beta testing slows me down quite a bit. I added a few things that I always had in mind. There is "case insensitive" file system support and there is also an option to select the file system encoding. I have tested everything on my Linux box in my personal environment and I had sent the beta version of Capivara out to the translators for beta testing, but consider these new features as experimental.

New release 0.7.5.1 is out. This release fixes a major file copy problem on Windows.

Apr 28th, 2006

I received a bug report saying that files might get corrupted when being copied on Windows. Until I have figured out what causes the problem I will not recommend to use Capivara on Windows and I also disabled the download from sourceforge.net.
